VIDEO: ASA lobbyist & mechanical division director discuss importance of ‘Periodic Motor Vehicle Inspections’

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas – Currently, only 15 states nationwide have motor vehicle safety inspection programs in place.

As of this year, four of those 15 state legislatures have seen bills introduced to to repeal their states vehicle safety inspection programs. These programs have been proven to increase highway safety and prevent injuries and deaths.

ASA’s Washington, D.C. representative, Bob Redding, sat down with Tom Piippo, AMAM, Mechanical Division Director, during ASA’s Annual Business Meeting to discuss Periodic Motor Vehicle Inspection Programs.

They discuss the impact of new vehicle technologies, what shop owners and technicians should look at when a car comes into their shop, and what shops can do to protect or kick-start vehicle safety inspection programs in their state.
