During the awards presentions before Friday morning's OE Forum, the Automotive Service Association (ASA) and the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE), presented this year's ASA-ASE Top Score Award. The award was presented to Scott Daffron, owner of Daffron's Body Shop and Used Cars Inc. in Cortland, Ohio.
The annual award recognizes the individual employed by an ASA member shop who had the highest score of the 2006 National Insitute for Automotive Service Excellence Collision Repair and Refinish test. The award was presented by Darrell Amberson, ASA's collision division director and Tony Molla, vice president of communications for ASE. Geralynn Kottschade, NACE chairman, was also present for the award presentation.
Daffron is a third-generation collision repairer who purchased his business from his father in the mid-90's. "It was his grandfather's intiative of opening a shop in 1941, which started the family tradition of superior, quality repairs," said Amberson. "With a background in engineering, collision repair is a perfect fit for him and his desire to stay abreast of the issues in this highly technical field."
