Welcome to the 2003 International Autobody Congress and Exposition. I'd also like to welcome you to the eighth installment of the NACE Online Daily News, the official online news source for the world's largest collision repair event. The Online Daily News is published by AutoInc. magazine and the Automotive Service Association (ASA), the sole sponsor of NACE.

Chris Dameron, NACE 2002 chairman, kicks off this year's event today at 8:30 a.m. He will be followed by the Honorable George Bush, the 41st president of the United States. His speech on the impact of leadership and family values marks the first time a past U.S. president has addressed a NACE delegation. Following the General Session, the Exposition doors will open at 10 a.m.

Last year, NACE expanded its outstanding education program to include an Action Demonstration Arena, during which standing-room-only crowds turned out to watch demonstrations of the latest collision repair techniques. This year the arena, which is located on aisle 4700, has been expanded to provide more space and additional seating. The first demonstration will take place today at noon.

Yesterday, the Congress got underway and was highlighted by a number of management, industry and technical seminars. For the first time in NACE history, jobber and small-shop tracks were also initiated into the program yesterday. Last night's Big 'D' Welcome Party and Rodeo concluded the day's events and showed everyone the meaning of true Texas hospitality.

This is my first NACE as president of the Automotive Service Association and I truly look forward to the next few days. If you're attending NACE in person, please refer to the Online Daily often as we will be updating constantly throughout the show. For those unable to attend this year's show, the Online Daily promises to deliver the most complete up-to-date coverage of NACE 2002 available. Be sure to visit our Video Room and watch our streaming NACE news ticker and become part of the world's largest collision repair event.

Again, welcome to NACE 2002.

Sincerely,

Ron Pyle
ASA President and Chief Staff Executive
