AutoInc. Covers:
Vehicles should be in pristine condition. Generally, we select models from
the 1940s through the 1960s. Cover art is usually obtained from
professional photographers. However, if you have a car that you would like
be considered for our cover, but that has not been professionally
photographed, we'll be happy to review 35mm prints.
Typically, we select our covers by reviewing 2.5 x 3 or 4 x 6 transparencies.
Other things to consider:
- Vertical composition (with enough room at the top to include AUTOINC.)
- Cover trim size: 8.375 x 10.875 inches
- We usually request one-time print rights for cover art, plus use of the
image in our online version.
- Cover art deadlines are approximately 5 weeks prior to publication date
- A cover description is run with each issue, which usually includes details
about the vehicle, its owner, and the shoot location.
To contribute to AutoInc., several avenues are available. All contributions to the print version of AutoInc. are subject to publication on the AutoInc. Web site and/or the ASA Web site. Published material becomes the exclusive right of ASA and AutoInc.
Feature Articles
Each month, AutoInc. includes features in the following general categories: mechanical, collision, and management. If you have an interest in writing a feature article, please contact the AutoInc. editor (editor@asashop.org). Approximately 50 percent of AutoInc. features are contributed from outside writers. Providing industry information for possible inclusion in AutoInc. is another way to contribute.
Our readers are primarily the owners and managers of independent automotive repair businesses. Articles must be geared toward our readership, exclusive to AutoInc., and approximately 1,200 to 1,500 words long. AutoInc. feature articles must not be a promotional piece for specific products or services.
As space permits, a small photo of the author may appear at the end of the article with the bio.
Text can be submitted via e-mail or on a Macintosh-formatted disk (floppy, Jaz or Zip). Electronic submissions should also accompany a hard copy. Please include a brief bio about the author. Accompanying art is always welcomed. Preferred formats include prints and electronic tiff files (300 resolution).
Guest Editorials
AutoInc. is always in search of industry experts to contribute to its monthly Guest Editorial column. If you would like to write a guest editorial, or would like to suggest a topic of a future editorial, please contact us. The Guest Editorial column is about 500 words. It includes a brief bio about the author at the end of the article, and a "head-and-shoulders" photo is required, which will appear with the editorial. (Photo will be returned upon request.)
Guest Editorials do not necessarily reflect the opinion of AutoInc. or the Automotive Service Association (ASA).
