Spokane Shop Owner Cares; ASA, Customers, Employees, Family Benefit
Ed Cushman, owner, is performing transmission service on a 1997 Sebring.
It would be hard to find a more caring ASA member than Ed Cushman, AAM, of Spokane, Wash.
His caring is the reason his shop – C&H Foreign Auto Inc. – has been named one of the nation’s top shops. Caring is also why his shop enjoys a great reputation in Spokane, and explains his regard for his customers. And it’s reflected in his loyalty and dedication to the Automotive Service Association, his employees and his family.
Ed has been active for decades at the local, state and national levels of ASA.
Indicative of his caring for the association is what he said recently: “I feel optimistic about the future of the national office, ASA-Northwest and my local chapter of the association. I believe we have a renewed spirit of cooperation and the future looks bright. Please, never hesitate to let me know how I may help.”
That’s Ed. Always ready to help.
Ed has been in the automotive repair industry 36 years. He has devoted his life to raising his family while building a highly reputable business and finding time to help ASA.
Ed’s sons, Scott Cushman and Brad Cushman, are both involved in the family business, and Scott is being groomed to take over once Ed retires in a couple of years.
Motor Age Magazine has named C&H Foreign Auto one of the nation’s top shops. The Spokane Chamber of Commerce has honored the shop as Small Business of the Year and Spokane’s BIZ lists it as “Best of City.”
How did C&H Foreign Auto come to enjoy that enviable reputation? By caring. It’s even reflected in the shop’s email address: email@example.com.
Ed says there is nothing his shop won’t do to serve its customers. “We go the extra mile all the time to demonstrate this to our customers,” he says. “We also deliver the most professional service we possibly can. We employ the best technicians we can find and make ongoing training available to them. We really do believe that if we take care of our customers, everything else will take care of itself.”
Caring also carries over to his employees. His pride in his employees includes the love and affection he feels for the members of his own family who are part of the C&H Foreign Auto team.

And that includes his wife, Cindy, who is office manager; and sons Scott, the shop’s manager; and Brad, service adviser/ parts manager. The Cushmans’ other son, Jeremy, recently received a doctorate in composition and rhetoric from Purdue University.
Ed plans to transfer management of C&H Foreign Auto to Scott in 2015. But he has no plans to quit supporting ASA, his customers, his employees or his family. You can bet Ed will help out any way he can.
