‘Owners prefer independent shops’

Independents still hold the title for most preferred among motorists, according to an article in the August issue of Consumer Reports. Check out page 49 of that issue to see the overall satisfaction rates per model for dealers and independents regarding repairs vs. price. The article points out the common misconception that consumers must take their car to a dealer to keep its warranty valid, and also states car owners often prefer independents because they’re less expensive than dealers. The survey was conducted by the Consumer Reports National Research Center and the results are consistent with their findings in recent years.
