More than 90 percent of ASA member-shops are family-owned businesses, according to our 2011 AutoInc. readership survey. Learn what different generations from the same shop are thinking and how they are relating in this customer-driven industry. In this month’s “Generationally Speaking” department, meet Terry Eads, owner of Eads Automotive and Tire Center; and Josh Eads, manager, in Cabot, Ark.

What do you think about when you’re brushing your teeth in the morning?
The work I have ahead of me for the day.

What is the best decision you have ever made?
Marrying my wife.

How did you get into the automotive service and repair business?
I thought it would be a decent way to make a living and provide a needed service.

What do you drive?
2009 Dodge 1/2-ton truck

If you had a free weekend by yourself, what would you do?
Go play golf.

What advice would you give a young person who is graduating from high school today?
Never give up and shoot high.

What do you like most about your work?
Helping others.

Hank Williams Jr.

Grew up in it since I was 9 years old because it’s family-owned.

2005 Dodge Magnum R/T

If you had a free weekend by yourself, what would you do?
Install my stereo and go for a cruise.

What advice would you give a young person who is graduating from high school today?
Make sure you know what you want to do in life before you start throwing away money at college toward a degree you’re not going to use.

What do you like most about your work?
I get to work with new technology and repair vehicles (make them better than when they came in).

Favorite musician or type of music?
Don’t have a favorite musician but I do prefer rap/hip-hop.
