See what makes us different ...
and the same!

Posted 1/16/2012

According to the “How’s Your Business?” 2011 survey, more than 90 percent of ASA member-shops are family-owned businesses. And as is often the case, that means multi-generational families working under one shop roof.

For that reason, AutoInc. is excited to introduce a brand-new department to its pages. For many years now, the Guest Editorial has taken up the all-important “last page” slot in the magazine. Some people divide the world between those who see the glass half empty or those who see it as half full. In this editor’s eyes, I see the world as those who read a magazine from the front to back and those – like me – who read it from back to front.

Regardless of how you see the world – or read the magazine – we hope you will enjoy this new, light-hearted department. Why light-hearted? We thought it would be a good counterbalance to other content in the magazine, which is more newsy, serious, technical and in-depth. We also thought it would be a fun way to engage our readers and learn more about you. And nothing does that better than a quirky survey.

So, in future issues, we are inviting different generations from each shop to participate in the “Generationally Speaking” column. If you are interested in participating, please send me a quick note at leonad@asashop.org, and I will contact you individually. Meanwhile, we thought it would be neat to kick off the column by having myself, a Generation X’er; and assistant editor, Levy Joffrion, who represents the “Traditionals” generation, take a quick survey. See if you can learn a thing or two about us from our responses. Next time, we will be showcasing you!
