Let Today Be The Starting Point of
Your Future Success
|"Your present circumstances
don't determine where you
can go; they merely determine
where you start."
- Nido Qubein
Those who know me know how much I love quotes. Well, the adjacent saying is one of my favorites.
For those who attended ASRW, what a fantastic event! The NACE and CARS classes could not have been more relevant! The opening session with Chris Brogan was right on the money and exactly what I was looking for as a business owner who wants to be a front-runner with social media marketing. The convenience of several I-CAR classes made it easy to soak up some know-how. And, of course, the Multi-shop Operators Symposium was bar none. And I want to thank all of you who tapped me on the shoulder to say, “Hi,” after my challenge to you in last month’s Chairman’s Message!
The point is: Nick Quebein hit the nail on the head when he said your present circumstances do not determine where you go, but simply determines your starting point.
So now it’s back to work to implement all you learned. Close the deal on the equipment you looked at. And call that vendor who wasn’t at the show and ask them why. We are heading into what can be the busiest season for many of us shop owners. So will you put into practice what you learned? And not just for a week, but from now on? Will you use this event, this month, this day to be the starting point of your future success?
Let ASA help you because it’s relevant! ASA also listens to its membership. So pick up the phone, call the manager of ASA’s mechanical or collision divisions and let them know how they can help. Pick up the phone and call the board of directors. Call me, as chairman of the board. Call Ron Pyle, the president of ASA. We are all listed on the website (www.ASA shop.org). If nothing else, use this time, this day, as the starting point to improve your future!
Now, after you address all of that, keep reading this issue! There is the hotter-than-ever aftermarket parts certification issue, which we cover this month. And I don’t want to close without mentioning another article that caught my eye: “Developing Profitable Commercial Fleet Accounts.” Fleet accounts are back; can that be a profit center also?
I leave you with another one of my favorite quotes: “Talk won’t cook rice.” Think about it! May you find much to be thankful for as we enter this holiday season.
