ASA-Washington Sponsors Training Expo
More than 800 automotive professionals attended the Automotive Training Expo (ATE) sponsored by ASA-Washington. Jeff Lovell, president/executive director of ASA-Washington, said based on attendee surveys, the 2011 Expo was the "best ever."
Some of the top technical and management trainers offered diverse courses at ATE, including several AMI-approved management courses.
Keynote speakers this year were Steve Beck, sponsored by WORLDPAC, and Bob Mortimer, sponsored by Integrated Claims Management.
The Expo featured more than 80 booths displaying automotive products, tools and equipment, automotive business services, and more. Wagonmaster/BG Products gave away $30,000 worth of equipment as door prizes. Plans are under way for the 2012 ATE to be held March 2-4, 2012.
ASA-Arizona Certifies Group One Motorwerks as a 'Green Shop'
ASA-Arizona announced its certification of Group One Motorwerks in Tucson as a "Green Shop" in partnership with the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality's (ADEQ) Green Shop Program. This is a voluntary program for environmentally friendly shops in the state of Arizona, and Group One Motorwerks now joins the list of 62 shops that have been certified by ADEQ.
To become certified, auto shops must accumulate at least 300 points on a checklist in various categories such as cleaning and degreasing and energy conservation created by ADEQ's Pollution Prevention Program. The program requires auto shops to use low-hazard, low-pollution solvents or water-based cleaners; recycle waste fluids and oil; use energy-efficient lighting and air conditioning, just to name a few of the areas.
Group One Motorwerks is a family-owned repair facility specializing in servicing Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Porsche, Mini and Smart car repairs and maintenance.
