Preview of ASA's New Education and Training Content

Through ASA's relationships, partnerships and annual education events, shop owners, technicians and students are sure to find the education and training needed to keep a successful shop running in today's ever-changing business environment and to stay current with the advancements of automotive technology. Here is a quick preview of ASA's updated Education section of the ASA Web site, www.ASAshop.org/smart.

Student Information

ASA works with training facilities to ensure that students who apply for technical jobs are adequately educated. These students must be able to cope with extraordinary demands made by advances in technology. For a complete list of educational institutions and scholarship info, visit www.ASAshop.org/smart.

Educational Members

Any person actively engaged in training automotive service industry personnel has the ability to become an ASA educational member. Educational members are encouraged to join ASA and other participating industry groups to improve the quality of automotive service and the image of those employed in this important industry. Shop Owner/Technician Info

Many independent shop owners turn to ASA for information about management education and technical training to enhance their business and train their technicians. As a member of ASA, you will find resources that can help you improve your management skills and operate a more profitable business.

In addition, ASA's publications and resources give you instant access to technical articles, training seminars and important legislative and industry information.

Here is a list of programs for continued education opportunities:

    • Automotive Management Institute (AMI) (please see below).

    • Congress of Automotive Repair and Service (CARS) - The annual CARS event offers attendees four days of management and technical education, along with great networking opportunities. CARS is held in conjunction with NACE during Automotive Service and Repair Week (ASRW) in Las Vegas.

    • International Autobody Congress and Exposition (NACE) - ASA annually sponsors NACE, the world's collision repair event.
    The four-day conference includes management, industry and technical seminars, plus a trade show with hundreds of exhibiting companies.

    • Affiliate Events - ASA provides numerous education opportunities on a regional level through ASA affiliates and local ASA chapters.

AMI Offers Exceptional Training and Education

AMIThe Automotive Service Association works closely with and supports the many offerings and capabilities of the Automotive Management Institute (AMI), which is a leading provider of management education for the automotive service and collision repair industry.

AMI offers courses in a variety of formats to best meet every student's learning needs. Classroom courses range from 1-1/2-hour to five-day sessions. A core of self-study courses is also available. Students earn the Accredited Automotive Manager (AAM) designation after completing 120 credits of AMI education and a requisite self-study course. More than 1,400 individuals have earned the prestigious AAM designation, with approximately 100 new graduates each year.

Look in each issue of AutoInc. for a monthly listing of courses that AMI provides. In addition to holding classes around the country, AMI offers monthly Webinars, which are convenient and affordable. As a benefit of membership, ASA members can enjoy a 10 percent discount on Webinars.
