131 Days Until ASRW
I hope everyone is well after the challenging spring we have had across the country. As we look forward to summer vacations, we tend to take care of our customers' vehicles and forget to take care of our own vehicles. Let's not be like the cobbler and go barefoot. Remember to take the time to be sure your vehicle is safe and reliable so all you have to do is have a great time with your friends and family.
As this year swiftly passes by, I want to update you on Automotive Service and Repair Week (ASRW) - which includes CARS and NACE - to be held Sunday, Oct. 10, through Wednesday, Oct. 13, at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. As of June 1, ASRW is 131 days away! All aspects of CARS and NACE are coming together very well. Most likely, by the time you read this, the CARS/NACE housing registration and educational registration will be open and accessible via either website: www.CARSevent.com or www.NACEexpo.com.
We are excited about the changes this year. I know we tend to be creatures of habit, and change can be challenging. I believe these changes will be positive. The date change to October will alleviate holiday anxieties and hopefully aid in spacing out travel time and expenses for some of you. Mandalay Bay and the other host hotel rates will be much lower this year, which will help us budget ASRW into our individual expenses.
CARS and NACE promise to have some exciting new changes. There will be open forums for members to have excellent networking opportunities. This will be extremely beneficial because, after all, I believe we learn by doing and sharing with each other ideas and practices that have proven positive (or not) for our businesses. It sure beats reinventing the wheel! We have amazing resources only a phone call or e-mail away within our industry and its knowledgeable and passionate members.
Another welcome change: All ASRW 2010 activities will be held on one floor of the Mandalay Bay Convention Center - classes, forums, the General Session and the Exposition. It will be much easier to navigate the convention while saving our feet a few steps.
We continue to have a large number of vendors committed to ASRW. There will be a greater OEM presence on the show floor with valuable mechanical and collision information in one convenient OEM Pavilion. CARS continues to show growth. NACE and CARS will offer almost 80 education sessions to choose from! Along with activities surrounding Auto Glass Week, the list of organizations holding their meetings in conjunction with ASRW continues to grow with Women's Industry Network, National Auto Body Council and National Automotive Service Task Force confirmed to-date. Opportunities will abound at CARS and NACE. You owe it to yourself and your business to attend. As always, the strong will survive. Knowledge is power.
Remember, the kids are out of school for the summer. Be aware of them when out and about. Be safe and enjoy your summer! See you next month.
