Call for Candidates for the National
Board of Directors

Get involved in ASA leadership

Any regular member interested in being considered for the Automotive Service Association (ASA) national board of directors should contact the national office and request a "consideration form." For 2011, there are two open positions for general director.

Contact Jo Ann Abramuk toll free at (800) 272-7467, ext. 211, for a consideration form. Forms must be completed and received no later than Tuesday, July 6, 2010. The 2011 nominating committee is chaired by Earl Dohner, AAM, E&E's Garage, Brookville, Ohio. Members serving on the committee are Aaron Clements, AAM, C&C Automotive, Augusta, Ga.; Camille Eber, Roth & Miller Autobody Inc., Portland, Ore.; Dave Lanspeary, AAM, Dave's Auto Repair, Youngtown, Ariz.; Dan Meyer, AAM, Kay Parks/ Dan Meyer Auto Rebuild Inc., Tacoma, Wash.; Howard Pitkow, AAM, Wagenwerx Inc., Glenside, Pa.

ASA-Washington's Training Expo 'Great Success'

ASA-Washington's 2010 Automotive & Training Expo (ATE)
During the ATE Expo, Wagonmaster/BG Products gave away $60,000 worth of equipment as door prizes.

ASA-Washington's 2010 Automotive & Training Expo (ATE) was attended by more than 600 automotive professionals March 12-14. The three-day event was a "great success," according to Jeff Lovell, AAM, president/executive director of ASA-Washington.

Lovell said some of the top technical and management trainers offered diverse courses at ATE, as well as several Automotive Management Institute-approved courses. The expo featured more than 80 booths displaying automotive products, tools and equipment, automotive business services and more.

Congratulations to ASA-Washington for holding such a successful event! Plans are already under way for the 2011 ATE, March 11-13.

Greater New Orleans Fishing Rodeo Scheduled

ASA-New Orleans will have its 16th Annual Fishing Rodeo June 13, 2010. The annual event comprises of lunch, followed by a weigh-in. The "rodeo" divisions are speckled trout, redfish, bull red, bass, flounder, black drum and sheepshead. There will be a President's Award.

Proceeds from this popular event fund the ASA-Greater New Orleans Area Delgado Community College Scholarship Program. ASA wishes the "Big Easy" affiliate great "fishin' fun!"

What Every Member Needs to Know

Did you know ASA members can apply for a variety of scholarships to attend CARS and NACE? To apply, you can complete an application online at www.amionline.org. Deadline is Aug. 13.

Congratulations to Dan Stander, Jerry Stander's Collision Works, Littleton, Colo., the new Collision Division director! Stander was appointed director by the outgoing chairman, Earl Dohner, AAM, at the recent ASA annual meeting. He is serving in a two-year position.

Mechanical Recap

Congratulations also goes to Bill Moss, AAM, Ferris Automotive Inc., Warrenton, Va., the new Mechanical Division director! Moss served on the ASA Mechanical Division Operations Committee for six years. He was elected to this two year position earlier this year.
