ASA Can Help You Cope
With Challenging Economy

I don't have to tell you that the economy hasn't been the greatest. You're just as aware of that as I am.
And independent repair shops haven't been immune to the impact of it all.
But, thank goodness, the automotive service and repair industry has not been affected as severely as other industries. That's according to a Bureau of Labor Statistics report pointed up in AutoInc.'s latest "How's Your Business?" survey. Results of the survey were reported in the December 2009 issue of your magazine.
That's encouraging, and - even better news - there are signs of economic recovery. We just need to be tuned in to the opportunities that are there if we just look for them. And there's no better place to look to stay "tuned in" than the Automotive Service Association.
ASA is here for you! It has been for nearly 60 years, and it's stronger than ever. It's your association, established by shop owners just like you and governed by you and your fellow shop owners. Its sole reason for existing is the welfare of its members. So take advantage of all that it offers.
During these economic times, we are more interested than ever in saving money and cutting costs. One way to save money is by taking advantage of the many member benefits ASA offers. Each issue of the magazine includes a full-page listing of all of ASA's member services and benefits (click here to download). Read AutoInc. to get the latest on what's happening in the industry and in the nation's capital. Every month, Bob Redding - our representative in Washington, D.C. - tells us about legislative goings-on that will impact you and your business.
Take advantage of the many helpful courses offered by the Automotive Management Institute. Attend your local meetings and the International Autobody Congress and Exposition (NACE) and/or the Congress of Automotive Repair and Service (CARS) during Automotive Service & Repair Week. Network with your fellow members. And let me stress that this is one of the biggest advantages of belonging to the association - all the opportunities to network it affords.
Most of all, remember that ASA is here for you. It's doing everything it can to help you get through these trying times. Our slogan is, after all, "You keep them going. We keep you going."
