ASA-Arizona Holds Annual Convention

ASA-Arizona Annual Convention

The ASA-Arizona Annual Convention - Sunrise - was held July 9-11 in Prescott, Ariz. As requested by those attending last year's event, the convention was moved back to Northern Arizona where attendees could enjoy the cooler weather. Danny Sanchez, Autoshop Solutions, conducted the management training and Dean Parsons, Automotive Training Group, conducted the technical classes. The event also featured Mike Smith and Ken Williamson of Jasper Engines & Transmissions, for a management class highlighting the "Science of Selling."

A golf tournament kicked off the convention Friday. The Sponsor Showcase on Saturday was an opportunity to meet with exhibitors and learn about discounted and value-added products and services. Attendees enjoyed the evening's silent auction, which benefits the ASA-Arizona Scholarship Fund.

ASA-Michigan Launches Consumer-Education Website

ASA-Michigan members launched a new website recently, www.MichiganCarCare.com, to help consumers take better care of their cars. The site provides Michigan drivers with car care tips, vehicle safety information, auto insurance tips, the monetary value of your car and much more.

ASA-Michigan members will be promoting the site to consumers by including the website's address on specially designed business cards with the URL listed and an area to schedule a future appointment with the member-business. The business cards can be obtained through the ASA-Michigan office.

Mike Anderson
Mike Anderson

The ASA Collision Division is moving full force ahead as the summer heat increases. Under the leadership of Mike Anderson, AAM, the ASA Estimating Subcommittee continues to gather time studies relative to the feather, edge and fill process. The ASA Estimating team's goal is to collect 3,000 time studies, determine the average of distance and time and provide details to all information providers and media to continue to emphasize the importance of recognizing and properly compensating collision repair businesses for the commonly performed operation.

To participate, download the study kit at http://www.asashop.org/news/asaresources/2010_TimeStudyPkg.pdf and return the results to ASA collision division manager, Denise Caspersen, at denisec@asashop.org.
