A. Carroll Proctor is the owner of A.C. Proctor's Paint & Body Shop Inc. in Augusta, Ga., which has been an ASA member for more than 23 years.
All of his technicians are ASE certified and a third of them are ASE master certified. Every technician is I-CAR trained and A.C. Proctor's Paint & Body Shop has been an I-CAR Gold Class shop for 16 years.
Proctor was a member of ASA's Collision Division Operations Committee for six years. He was chairman of the Estimating Subcommittee and participated on the Mitchell International advisory board on behalf of ASA and its membership. He also participated on the Collision Industry Conference (CIC) Database Task Force and the Database Enhancement Gateway (DEG) project.
He also has served as collision chairman for the Augusta chapter of ASA, and is active in local civic organizations.
Proctor was instrumental in the formation of a local I-CAR chapter in 1989 and served as the local I-CAR chairman in 1990-91. He is a member of the Society of Collision Repair Specialists, the National Auto Body Council and the DEG task force. He is also a gold pin member of CIC.
In May 2007, Proctor was appointed to the ASA national board of directors as a general director to fulfill a vacant position. When asked why he would like to continue serving, Proctor said: "It has been a pleasure working on the Collision Division Operations Committee, fostering better communications between the insurance industry, the information providers and our industry. I would like to keep on being a 'hands-on' contributor by continuing to serve on the national board. I look forward to the opportunity and challenges to develop strategies, make decisions, build consensus and foster change for our industry.
"As an independent shop owner, I have a keen awareness of the problems, issues and concerns that the small body shop contends with on a daily basis. With the advent and increasing presence of 'mega shops' and consolidators as well as supplier-owned chain repair facilities, the small independent shop owners need a voice on the board of directors. I feel that ASA was created for just these individuals. As one of them and a strong supporter of ASA and the organization's principles, I believe I could be a valuable asset to the organization and my fellow members."

When asked why he would like to serve on ASA's board of directors, Seyfer said: "I think my extensive field work for ASA in legislative issues and at the shop level gives me a wide view of members' situations and needs, and I think understanding members' needs is the most critical element of serving as a director.
"I would bring creative problem solving and a great respect for those who have come before me. I enjoy taking on difficult tasks and seeing them through to the end. I think I also possess good skills in negotiating so that both parties can feel that a fair solution was reached."
Seyfer added, "Many of you know me. Those who don't, feel free to call me to discuss anything you have concerns about."
